Around the world, SHEIN designers are plugged into these insights—developing designs, establishing styles, and increasing sizing availability based on feedback received.

SHEIN’s business is built on a digitalized backend system that connects the entire end-to-end production cycle, enabling us to effectively address the mismatch between customer demand and merchandise supply. Production begins with small batches of 100 to 200 pieces per style for SHEIN’s global customer base, and we restock only the items that are in demand based on product performance and customer preference insights.…

SHEIN is strict about compliance with applicable local laws and regulations and committed to working only with suppliers who adhere to our standards in how we do business. We invest in measures to foster responsible practices throughout our supply chain, hold our suppliers to a Code of Conduct that is aligned with applicable international standards, provide training to help uplift supplier standards, and enforce compliance through risk-based compliance audits by reputable third-party…

SHEIN’s approach to supply chain governance pairs enforcement with empowerment, creating a framework where suppliers are not only held accountable for compliance but also supported in their efforts to improve standards. SHEIN believes that innovative solutions are needed to address the systemic challenges of the fashion industry, with collaboration across the ecosystem involving all parts of the value chain, from suppliers to customers. We are committed to helping drive this industry-wide transition by supporting advancements in materials innovation, production planning, end-of-life management, and increasing customer engagement to promote circularity.

In 2023, recognizing the needs of our manufacturing suppliers, SHEIN launched the Centre of Innovation for Garment Manufacturing to empower supplier partners and create a more efficient production ecosystem based on SHEIN’s industry-leading on-demand production business model. The CIGM conducts research and development into innovative lean production solutions for garment manufacturing, including advanced lean production management systems and applications such as the use of Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) to promote automation and efficiency throughout the production process.

In furtherance of our commitment to being more responsible for our environmental impact, SHEIN is continuously optimizing efficiency along the value chain to conserve resources—water, energy, and raw materials.

SHEIN leverages Aloqia’s proprietary software by integrating it into our sourcing system, ensuring that our designers have the information and access to deadstock materials available for use. This enables more efficient execution in identifying fabrics that meet our strict sourcing criteria, procuring deadstock resources, and measuring the environmental impact savings from using these materials in place of newly produced textiles.

SHEIN has adopted NTX®’s Cooltrans® printing technology to develop an alternative denim production process: Cool Transfer Denim Printing, which, when combined with SHEIN’s agile supply chain management technology, produces custom denim designs with a fraction of the water footprint associated with conventional denim. This allows SHEIN’s suppliers to produce denim products using 70.5% less water compared to traditional denim production methods.

Since 2018, SHEIN has leveraged Digital Thermal Transfer Printing (DTTP) for a wide range of apparel products. With DTTP, dyes are printed onto thermal transfer paper before being transferred onto the fabric to form a pattern. While conventional screen printing uses 0.49 tons of water to produce 100 meters of fabric, SHEIN’s DTTP is completely dry, improving operational efficiency and reducing each garment’s water footprint.

Polyester accounts for the majority of SHEIN’s fiber portfolio, making the transition to recycled polyester a significant aspect of our decarbonization initiative. SHEIN believes that a more optimal pathway for recycled polyester is to support the scaling of recycled polyester made from textile waste in order to create a truly closed-loop alternative. We are working hard to ramp up textile-to-textile recycling capacities to accelerate this transition in collaboration with ecosystem partners.
